Reimagining a local food system that strengthens the resiliency of Block Island’s food sources and economy. Influenced by the season, the land and our saltwater foodway. A refuge for appetites, conviviality, and hospitality.
The eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica) is a species of true oyster native to eastern North and South America. This particular type of oyster provides a key structural element within their ecosystem, making them a foundation species and ecosystem engineers in western Atlantic estuaries.
